Developed in conjunction with the Canadian Hydraulics Centre of the National Research Council of Canada, the TRIAXYS™ Directional Wave Buoy is a precision instrument incorporating new technologies that make it an easy to use, rugged, and economical buoy for accurate measurement of directional waves.
The TRIAXYS™ sensor unit (PDF, 229 Kb) is comprised of three accelerometers, three rate gyros, a fluxgate compass, and the proprietary TRIAXYS™ Processor.
Unlike other wave buoys, the TRIAXYS™ Directional Wave Buoy is solar powered, eliminating the need for frequent and expensive battery replacement. TRIAXYS™ is also easy to handle during deployment as it can be rolled off a ship deck without any concern for sensor damage due to spinning.
Developed in conjunction with the United States Navy, the TRIAXYS™ Mini Directional Wave Buoy is a precision instrument incorporating new technologies that make it an easy to use, rugged, and economical buoy for accurate measurement of directional waves. This small (0.6m diameter) and lightweight (60kg) TRIAXYS™ sensor unitbuoy is easily deployed by two people from virtually any size of vessel.

Wave and sea surface temperature data are processed and logged on the buoy and then transmitted via VHF, cell or satellite telemetry to a base station hosting AXYS WaveView™ software which allows for full TRIAXY Mini Directional Wave Buoypresentation and archiving of data along with diagnostic utilities.
Standard mooring configurations specially designed for wave buoys are available for water depths up to 150m. Our Service Department can design custom moorings for water depths in excess of 150m. All TRIAXYS™ Directional Wave Buoys are equipped with the WatchCircle Alarm to provide notification if a buoy moves off station, and when teamed with satellite telemetry it provides tracking information for buoy recovery.
Please see our Mooring Requirements Page for information, calculations and recommendations on moorings for TRIAXYS™ Wave Buoys. |
