A growing number of international clients rely on AXYS' Buoy Retrofit Program, including India’s NIOT, the Irish Marine Institute and China's Second Institute of Oceanography.  Taking advantage of existing buoy infrastructure, older buoy systems can be brought up to modern standards with the integration of our proprietary WatchMan500™ data acquisition system (DAS). 

An AXYS Buoy Retrofit typically consists of our WatchMan500™ DAS, power system (solar & batteries), sensors, telemetry, cables and integration service.  Our Buoy Retrofit program comprehensively upgrades existing buoys to fully operational metocean systems in a short period of time. 

Tremendous cost savings are realized by using existing buoy hulls versus the cost of manufacturing and shipping complete new systems from Canada. 

Under this program, AXYS can also offer partial retrofits, for example data acquisition systems only for older metocean buoys lacking two-way communication capabilities and modern remote diagnostic functionality.
